Joanna Shepley Clarke
Teacher of English / English Coordinator
Originally from Derbyshire in England, Joe completed a degree in English Language and Literature from Durham University, then took a gap year to travel and work around the globe. She gained her Post Graduate Certificate of Education at Manchester University, later working as an Associate Tutor mentoring other PGCE students.
She taught in three top UK schools before moving internationally to work in Indonesia, Poland and Vietnam as Head of English; she also taught in Malaysia as Deputy Head (Academic) of a startup boarding school, Epsom College. She completed her MA in Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. Joe passionately believes in encouraging students to enjoy literature and reading for pleasure - as a lifelong habit. Throughout her teaching career she has been involved in a wide range of cross-curricular activities, especially the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cycling and wild swimming; she completed her first half-marathon last year. She is looking forward to exploring Slovakia.
