Benjamin Cottam

Benjamin Cottam

Secondary Humanities Coordinator

Benjamin graduated from the University of Lancaster with a BSc Geography before completing a Master’s in Resource and Environmental Management. Before training to become a teacher, he spent time volunteering in Nigeria and Iceland, as well as working in the charity sector in the UK. More recently, Benjamin worked at the International School of Riga. As well as teaching Geography, he has also spent the last few years teaching History. He is passionate about the study of Humanities disciplines and believes that both Geography and History are crucially important in understanding the processes behind how the world functions, both in the present and the past. He has been at the forefront of the development of the Model United Nations programme here at CIS, encouraging students to learn the skills of debating and engagement with significant real time global events. Benjamin is very much an outdoors' person, and his hobbies include climbing and hiking.
