Andrew Melia
Outdoor Activities Coordinator
Andy was educated at international schools in Dubai, Amman, Spain and South Africa before going on to study English and Geography in Wales.
After completing his education, he moved to Nepal where he spent the next six years teaching English and working for local charities focused on supporting Tibetan refugees. He then joined a Danish aid organisation and worked in Africa and Central America. This work centred around establishing community development projects based on Primary and Pre-School education, empowering women and families through ‘trickle-up’ financial initiatives, and environmental programmes which involved river clean-ups, mangrove regeneration and tree planting. Travel has been an important part of Andy’s life since childhood and he continues to travel as much as possible.
Andy’s interests and hobbies include anything to do with the outdoors: hiking, kayaking, climbing and biking, and he is delighted to be developing his role as the first Outdoor Education Coordinator in the history of Cambridge International School, leading on Forest School, Cambridge Challenge and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
