Aaron J. G. King
Director
Aaron J. G. King was educated at the High School of Dundee, Scotland, and studied at Mansfield College, Oxford, before completing his Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
Mr. King originally taught Philosophy, Theology and History, but also has much experience of delivering Critical Thinking and Theory of Knowledge, and holds an extensive knowledge of IGCSE and A level.
He has worked in some of the largest and most successful schools in England, having been a Housemaster and Head of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education at Dulwich College, London, before becoming Head of Upper School there, and he has wide expertise in improving learning and attainment.
At the Grammar School at Leeds, the largest independent co-educational school in England, Mr. King took on the newly created position of Director of Sixth Form, and was instrumental in building a positive culture, as well as introducing new academic and university guidance programmes and driving forward the ambition and effectiveness of the faculty.
Mr. King then rejoined Dulwich as part of their international DCI group, working in China, as Deputy Head of Senior School at Dulwich College, Shanghai Pudong, one of the world’s elite schools with some of the highest IB scores globally. He transformed the wellbeing and student leadership programmes as well as playing a critical role in helping students to access top universities worldwide.
From 2015-2020, Mr. King was Principal of Yew Wah International Education School of Yantai, a city of 8 million. He led the School to become one of the leading international schools in Shandong Province as part of the Yew Wah and Yew Chung Foundation, one of the largest and most successful school groups in China with an educational history of 90 years. Mr. King led the significant expansion of the School, securing record exam results, year on year national and global CAIE awards, the first Oxbridge successes in the School’s history, and directing the School towards accreditation with the Council for International Schools.
Mr. King has played field hockey at the highest club and national levels, is an accomplished musician, and has participated in a number of archaeological digs around the world. He is a passionate supporter of Sport and the Arts, and enjoys hiking, reading, documentary films, and visiting places of historic interest.
He joined the Cambridge International School team as Director in 2020, and lives in Bratislava with his wife Loredana, and family, Octavian aged 13, Annabelle aged 11 and Alexandra, aged 8, all of whom are educated at CIS.
